Application overview
Ozone is a strong oxidant that can react with many odour-causing compounds. In the right application, it can be used to support odour reduction in exhaust air, flues, ductwork, enclosed spaces and selected industrial processes. Ozcon supplies ozone generators for industrial and commercial applications where controlled ozone production is required.
However, ozone odour control should not be treated as a simple plug-in solution. Performance depends on the contaminant type, airflow rate, humidity, temperature, contact time, mixing, safety controls and whether people may be exposed.
Some applications need ozone injection. Others may need filtration, carbon, UV-O, wet scrubbing, biological treatment or a combined approach. The starting point is always the process and the odour source.
Treatment routes
The correct route depends on whether the problem is a continuous exhaust stream, a ducted kitchen or process application, or a one-off odour event in an enclosed and unoccupied space.

How it works
Ozone reacts with many organic and inorganic odour-causing compounds. The aim is to chemically alter or break down the compounds responsible for nuisance odour, rather than covering the smell with another fragrance.
Ozone treatment must be controlled and designed around occupancy, extraction, monitoring and residual ozone management. Shock treatment should only be used in unoccupied spaces and continuous treatment requires appropriate controls.
